Dr. John Bertini, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Galveston Railroad Museum, shares a broad knowledge of railroad history, network of railroad professionals, and business expertise. Guidance from the board of directors is instrumental to the success and growth of the museum. Under Dr. Bertini’s team leadership, the museum has welcomed the Polar Express Train Ride, the Rail Hotel, Arthur R. Carmody, Jr. Train Library, Northern Lights Dining Car, dedicated two train cars, initiated the Rail Baron’s Ball, hosted new exhibits including Traveling on a City at Sea: The Story of the Battleship Texas, Briscoe Calendar Collection, Santa Fe Advertising Posters, restored the Ghosts of Travelers Past, developed a partnership with the Galveston Independent School District resulting in teacher curriculum and lesson plans, rotating exhibits, placed on exhibit  a portion of the museum’s permanent collection of Railroad Porcelain China and Silver, and continues to restore railcars.
