GALVESTON, TX – The Galveston Railroad Museum welcomes visitors for Galveston Museum Days, January 23 – 25, 2602 Santa Fe Place. Visitors will enjoy 2 for 1 admission all three days and special activities are planned for each day.
The Galveston Railroad Museum is a living history museum where guests are encouraged to immerse themselves in the exhibits. Most of the exhibits are retired railcars that rest on five acres of railyard and are open for boarding year-round. Hop aboard sleep cars, dining cars, a traveling post office, steam engine, and a stock car that features a mooing steer! The restored 1932 Train Depot takes you back to a time when passengers congregated to catch a train to their next destination. On display are lifelike sculptures depicting travelers of the era. The Ghosts of Travelers Past each have their story to tell as they await their departure or greet incoming passengers. Additional exhibits in adjacent galleries consist of railroad advertising posters, calendars, Railroad History Timeline, model trains, Railroad dining porcelain china and silver, and a theater featuring railroad films throughout each day.
