Harborside Express Train Rides

Add to your new year bucket list to ride on a train and jump aboard the Harborside  Express this weekend at the Galveston Railroad Museum, 2602 Santa Fe Place. Weather permitting, the train  will leave the station beginning at 11 am daily.

The unseasonably warm weather offers the opportunity to experience a real train ride every weekend as long  as the weather cooperates. On pause to accommodate The POLAR Express Train Ride little red caboose will  be chugging down the tracks providing a 30-minute experience. Tickets are required to board the train at the  museum railyard for the family-friendly fun ride down the tracks.

The popular ride is just one of numerous immersive activities available at the Galveston Railroad Museum.  Situated on five acres of railyard, visitors can board sleep cars, dining cars, a postal car, see a cattle car, pull  the whistle on a steam driven engine, interact with fully active model trains, or have a conversation with the  Ghosts of Travelers Past. It is all here. In addition to real railcars, exhibits include railroad memorabilia and  artifacts, Railroad Porcelain dining china and silver, and rail art. Rail Finds, located in the 1932 train depot,

is a revolving exhibit highlighting pieces from the museum’s rarely seen permanent collection. Spend the day  with us and stop for a break at the courtyard café for small bites and refreshments, and respite in the  auditorium for ongoing railroad films.

If your group would like caboose rides, we will operate the train for your field trip! Passes on the train can be purchased for $8 each. Advance reservation required.

Harborside Express Caboose Rides typically run late spring through the summer, most weekends, weather permitting. Black out dates apply for special events and November 1 thru January 1. Tickets are required, and are in addition to museum admission passes. Visitors are urged to check schedules in advance for availability and times.
