Meet the Authors

Meet Island authors Christine Ruiz Hopkins and Heidi Lutz at the Galveston Railroad Museum, 2602 Santa Fe Place, Saturday, May 23, 11 am – 1 pm, for an entertaining preview and book signing of their newly published book Secret Galveston: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure.

Exploring the lesser-known side of Galveston’s unique stories, the book provides readers a chance to explore hidden gems by delving into the wonderful reasons islanders love the quirky sandbar they call home.

A crypt in a church. A bell that saved more than a thousand lives. These are all lesser-known facts about Galveston that you might not know. That is, until you read the latest work from local authors Christine Ruiz Hopkins and Heidi Lutz.

Hopkins and Lutz also collaborated on 100 Things to Do in Galveston Before You Die, released April 1, 2020, that offers a bucket list of food, music, outdoor recreation, culture, and history.
Secret Galveston will be available in the Museum Store and at local retail outlets.
“This book was a little more challenging than the first book,” added Hopkins. “We really had to dig in to find ideas that were less commonly known. The best part is that we both learned some new things.”

A book review and book signing will be open to the museum visitors with reserved seating for museum members. A members reception to meet the authors will follow the presentation.
