The Galveston Railroad Museum is hosting RailFest: Model Train Rally, Saturday, April 25, and Saturday, April 25, 10 am – 5 pm, and you are invited to the largest gathering of model train collectors in the area. Live entertainment, exhibits and vendors, the immersive event begins in the 1932 Union Station Train Depot, winding out to the Garden of Steam and tented area adjacent to the 5 acre railyard. Explore, experience, and enjoy this family event for all ages.
The best of the best model train enthusiasts from across the nation will show off their spectacular large scale model trains throughout the property. A highlight is the LEGO model train active tracks that encompasses one entire gallery! The popular Depot Marketplace offers shopping opportunities, entertainment, food court, and interactive activities for kids of all ages.
All Aboard!! All museum exhibits are open throughout the event. Ranked as one of the top 5 railroad museums in the nation, the Center for Transportation and Commerce, situated on a 5 acre railyard, features one of a kind restored historic trains, projects in process, exhibits from the permanent collection, plus films and presentations in the auditorium. Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Galveston on The Strand, it’s an easy walk to anywhere downtown. Home to one of the few RailHotels in the country, the extraordinary accommodations are luxury railcars available for overnight stays.
