New!! Saturday, April 1 – Galveston Steampunk Festival 

12 pm – 12 am 

Centered on 19th century railroad technology guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion – think Wild Wild West attire. A perfect location for the event, Steampunk enthusiasts will enjoy access to all interactive exhibits, train depot, a marketplace with more than 45 vendors, food and drink court, tea party, teacup racing, costume contest, live entertainment, vow renewals, Time Machine, and much, much more. One day only so plan to attend.  

 

April 14, Friday, 5:30 pm. The Orphan Train       

Author Sandra McKay will present a reading from An Original Journey Home, A Place for Me. A true story of a girl separated from her mother who fell on hard times following the death of her father, only to be placed on The Orphan Train in search of an adoptive new family.  Reading, Book Signing and Reception.  Books will be available for sale. 

The historic plight for many children transported across the country will be opened on Saturday, April 15, 2 pm, when history re-enactor Dorothy Lund-Nelson will perform and present exhibit on The Orphan Train. Presentation, Member Reception and Sandra McKay Book Signing. Books available  in the Museum Store.      

 

RailFest – Annual Model Train Rally –  April 29 – 30, 10 am – 5 pm. 

Join model train enthusiasts from across the country for this interactive event. The best of the best will be taking to the tracks for the enjoyment of all!! All museum exhibits and rail cars will be open for visits and the Harborside Express will be giving rides big both days. The Depot Market will host market vendors, food and drink court and live entertainment.
